With a marketing degree and a background in musical theater, Dallas is the perfect place for performers to get their start. This website isn't for the world to see Jacob Catalano (although that would be nice). I want to use my Marketing knowledge to help community theaters and actors become known beyond their local communities.
MARKETING
Step 1:
The first step for any successful marketing campaign is to understand who you are marketing to. Your Target Market. The beauty of theater is that your target market will change for almost every show. While some demographics and audiences will come to every show, the target audience for In the Heights will be much different than for Phantom of the Opera.
Step 2:
The next step is to do what we in theater do best. Be Creative. Why do large companies such as Apple, Microsoft, Verizon, or Sprint have such success in branding? Outside of celebrity endorsements and millions of dollars, they know how to create unique advertisements. Ads that capture attention and create a relationship with prospective customers.
The amazing thing about marketing in theater is that each task, each project, each production, is like a whole new world. The two keys to a successful show are the show itself and how it is promoted. From community theater to Broadway, every production needs to be promoted so that there are no empty seats. How do you get butts in seats? Be Creative. Be Unique. Find your Target Market.
